Blain,
Here's what you need to do....
Set up your map with the 2 layers, say POSTAL and POINTS
Choose Map > Create Thematic Map
Select the type of Thematic you want, you probably want to use a Region
Range type.
When the dialog to Select Table & Field appears, in the Field: box, choose
Join...
Choose the POINT table as the Table to Get Value From
Click on the [Join] button and specify a (geographic) join where objects
from POINTS is within POSTAL. Click [OK]
Choose to calculate the Count
Click OK

Subject: MI Thematic shading from points?
Hello Listers,
Can anybody start me in the right direction?
I would like to create a thematic shading based on the occurence
of point objects in area objects. For example, I have some point counts
and postal districts - I would like to shade the postal districts according
to the number of point occurences within that area:
I can create a thematic layer consisting of the points, but that is not the
same
as a thematic layer of postal districts (using point occurence).
Thanks,
Blaine
