Hi Jack, You have probably already have done this, but: you need to set up the ODBC System Data Source in the Control Panel>ODBC administrator. Use the System DSN option. The "server" name needs to be the same as the Alias you have given your Oracle database in the SQL Net Easy Config program. The Data Source Name is what you will see in Mapinfo. BTW, I am using NT but I believe W95 will be much the same. ODBC links to Oracle can be a pain in the bum - you are at the mercy of the Oracle database administrator, who can make changes that screw your application up, and cause you to spend hours going through your code. Be warned! Another suggestion - try doing the ODBC link from MS Access. Does this work? Hope this helps, Pete, Ordnance Survey, UK. ---------- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: MI Setting up a PC Connection to a remote ODBC problem. Date: 17 March 1999 16:51 Hi all We are trying to get my PC set up to be able to connect to a remote ODBC, so far without success. This is a new area for us here, so we are short in experience. I'm hoping that someone here may have already been through this experience and might be able to help us. Here is my history. I am set up for and can manually connect to the ODBC when going through SQL Plus. I can not do it through Mapinfo. I use Mapinfo 4.12 in Windows 95. The drivers we have been trying to get to work are; Mapinfo Win32 oracle 7 version 2.11 and/or version 3.0. Neither one has been successful. The other information I have at this time is as follows. SQL*PLUS: release 3.2.2.0.1 Oracle7 server release 7.3.2.3.0 PL/SQL release 2.3.2.3.0 The error messages I get are below; [INTERSOLV][ODBC Oracle Driver][Oracle]ORA-01019: unable to allocate memory in the user side [INTERSOLV][ODBC Oracle Driver][Oracle]ORA-12705: invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified. Any hints and/or help I might be able to get on this would be greatly appreciated.
