The best solution I have found requires AutoCAD Map. Export from MI as a
MIF. Import into Map, saving the attributes as "object data". And then run
an "alter properties" query in Map, setting the Z value to the value of the
height field.
Maybe there is an easier way, but I don't know what it is. If you don't
have AutoCAD Map I could run it for you, it doesn't take very long.
