MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Research Scientist I: Bachelor's degree and two years of professional
experience in environmental sciences, epidemiology, geography or a related
field including in-depth experience with PC software and data management or
Master's degree and one year of appropriate experience.
Research Scientist II: Bachelor's degree and three years of experience or
Master's degree and two years of experience or a Ph.D. degree in the
appropriate field and one year of experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with managing, modeling, and mapping environmental exposure data
sets and/or experience and training in Geographic Information Systems and
statistics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As part of an interdisciplinary team, incumbent will evaluate existing data
for their suitability in providing useful environmental exposure
information. Acquire and manage data related to cancer risk factors. When
adequate data are not available, the incumbent will develop methods for
improving existing data or collecting new data. Help develop and apply
different approaches for modeling fate and transport of pollutants in
various environmental media. The incumbent will be responsible for
producing maps, and writing reports and research articles related to these
activities.
