Hello Listees

I've recently joined the MI community and was wandering about on the web for
information. Came across the MB downloads, and found the 'MultiLayer Select'
tool by Walter Dnes.

Does anyone have any experience of this tool, if so I have a couple of
questions if you have the time and inclination to answer.

My data consists of postal areas, roads and towns, They are ordered in the
Layer Control form with points first, areas last. When the Freehand polygon
is drawn, all the data is selected into the QX browser table, however, the
order is reversed - the areas are listed first, points last.

Consequently, the QX mapper appears 'wrong' because the areas are on top of
the lines and points. I have tried reversing the order in the Layer Control
prior to performing the ML_Select, which has the desired effect on the QX
browser table, but not the mapper - the areas are still on top of the lines
and points.

     1) Is there a way of selecting, such that order of the layers is
maintained?
     2) Immediatly after the selection is performed, should the selected
items
appear in highlight on the original mapper? (I swear they did the first
time,
but subsequently I have had to build a QX mapper to see them)

     3) Does anybody know of a query function that uses an existing object
to
define the selection criteria, in a similar fashion to the freehand
polygon
     is used in this tool?

Regards,

Blaine
