Richard,

What you need to do is
1. print to a file
2. make sure your plotter / printer has a PORT assigned to it (if it is
networked, say "yes - I print from MS-DOS programs" and assign it an LPT
port e.g. LPT1. (This will be simple if you're not on a network)
3. Open the MS-DOS prompt and copy the file over using:
COPY FILENAME.prn LPT1 /B
Where FILENAME.prn is the name of the printer file you have created (point
1.)
4. Type EXIT to get out of the MS-DOS prompt.

And thats it!!

Subject: MI printing maps from a saved file

Trying to print from a saved file outside of MapInfo. Looking to forward
saved print files to a central location for plotting, but need to know how
it really works first.
Tech support informed me that all I need to do is install the drivers,
select the size from the driver files and then save to a file. Tried doing
it but I only get the file name saved without any map though.

Have installed the drivers for different printers & plotters ( HP 650C, HP
750C, HP 4000 Laser Printer etc.)
I have other folks within my company waiting on me as to the correct
procedure to do this. Our Company is not willing spend the money to place a
plotter within individual offices yet.

** Just a footnote if your looking for a HP Design jet 750C series printer.
HP has given some vendors great deals on them. Quoted me a price of
$5200.00 for a 750C 36" printer until 1-31-99.
Local Vendor near me is
