MapInfo already gives you a conversion utility: dmscnvrt.mbx. Basically
place two additional (Decimal 13, 6) columns in your MapInfo table for the
new coordinates. If coming from EXCEL, Do File>Save Copy As first then
open that saved copy to edit the table's structure under
Table>Maintenance>Table Structure. Add the two Fields (i.e. NewLong and
NewLat. then run the above mentioned utility found in your \tools folder
under MapInfo's directory to convert the DMS to decimal degrees in those
new columns.

Subject: MI conversing DMS to decimal degrees
Is there a way to get MapInfo to read lat/long points reported in
degrees/minutes/seconds? Or must I convert the DMS points to decimal
degrees? If I must convert, can anyone recommend a tool? Thanks.
