I'm looking for some advice on how to approach the following problem:

I have a dozen tables or so in MapInfo (5.0) which are essentially graphics
files since no data was ever associated with them.  Now I've been asked to
attach data from a single Excel table to features within these MapInfo
tables.  Is the best solution to simply add columns identical to the Excel
table's to the MapInfo tables; then copy and paste the data into each
individual field? That's the best I've come up with so far.

Additional complications:
-The MapInfo tables will be converted to another GIS format (MGE) so I
assume that rules out any attempts at linking.
-The Excel table wasn't created with GIS in mind.  There isn't always a 1 to
1 relationship between table records and MapInfo graphic features.
Sometimes several graphic features in an area are related to one table
record.
