hi listers

i'm having trouble with SQL. I have two polygon layers and one point layer.
The data is as follows; one polygon layer describes Enumeration Districts
and the other describes Housing Estates. Estates can overlap multiple EDs
or they can be completely contained by a single ED. I have some statistics
(Index of local conditions) that are attached to the ED. I wish to find
weighted values of the local conditions for the estates. I could evaluate
how much area of an estate intersects with an ED, and then construct
percentages accordingly with all intersecting EDs - and then use
percentages to revaluate local conditions. But we have an AddressPoint (pts
of dwellings) layer which will create a better evaluation instead of using
'intersecting areas'. So i wish to determine for each Estate a breakdown of
what EDs intersect the estate and their 'proportionality' in accordance
with the points layer

My problem is that i have no idea how to do this.
