Hi all,

I have a problem that has been irking me for a little while. I produce a
lot of maps, many of which have many slightly different versions. I try
to save the workspaces with names that will indicate what lies within but
it is not always easy. Also what seems like a good descriptive name is
often quite difficult to interpret 6 months to a year down the road.

What I would like to do is embed the filename/workspace name in the map.
That way I know what file it is just by looking at the paper copy archived.
Of course I could just type the name in the layout. Is there some way
of automatically embedding the workspace name in the layout. I assume
there is a way to do this (probably in MapBasic -- which I do not have).
Do I need to purchase MapBasic if I want to do this sort of thing?

Thanks to all.

Andrea
