Greetings All: I'm looking for Electric and Gas Utilities' Areas of Coverage: their territories of service, within the State of Michigan.. Like most GIS Techs, I would prefer a very detailed digital map layer that can be resampled for efficient use at any geographic scale, BUT.... For these maps, very generalized boundaries will work. THIS project requires "only" an 8.5x11 monochrome printout (photocopiable) of the entire state showing the territories of the larger utilities (including overlaps) with symbols for the smaller utilities. One map each for gas and electric. I expect requests for more detailed info in the future (maybe, maybe not), so more detailed boundaries will probably be called for then. Resource Data International, Boulder, CO, seems to have what we want and lot more, but at a price beyond what our bean counters will allow us to pay. I believe they won an award at the MapInfo conference last year for their maps. From what I saw on their WEB page ( www.rdimaps.com ), it was well deserved. Any thoughts or advice appreciated, especially pointers to possible data sources. ...thanks ...Bob Robert Karr, Science Research Assistant Michigan State Legislature Legislative Service Bureau Science & Technology Division 517-373-3028 124 W.
