Couldn't you use the method described in the "Streets" writeup on the
Mapinfo-L website to accomplish the same thing automatically? I've used
it to create object/attribute joins for things like TIGER road types,
hydrography types, etc. when the issue is duplicated names, but I should
think it would work as well with attribute data with a little tweeking.
