We use an HP Deskjet 1600C and an HP 650C and both are real workhorses that
have been completely successful printing complex MapInfo maps from Windows
95 and Windows 3.11, from multiple machines running under LANtastic 7.0.

We've been troubled and frustrated by the transparent raster (non) printing
problem, but that's a MapInfo issue and has nothing to do with the printers.

HP product is good because updated drivers are available, service and parts
are available if you need it, and consumables (refilled as well) are
available. Less common printers can have problems getting parts and
ink/toner cartridges, especially if they're a couple years or a couple
generations old.
