Tony, i have been using MultiEdit for about one year now - and I wouldn't want to miss is. MultiEdit allows you to use * syntax highlighting * templates (you type sub<space> and it'll expand into a complete template for a sub) * compiler support (including error processing) * custom online-help support * multi-indent * line numbers * Session/Project management * MB-files can be larger than 64k * lots and lost more neat features MultiEdit can be configured in any way you want. On top of that, it comes with its own macro-language. Included with the software are a lot of templates and color schemes for the most commonly used programming languages. However, due to the fact that is is highly customizable, you'll find yourself clicking way more dialogs than when you set your labelling options for a layer in MapInfo. Anyway, once you are done setting up MultiEdit, using this editor is actually fun and very easy. There is a trial version on http://www.multiedit.com I have only just altered my setup for MultiEdit. As soon as I am done with that, I post the necessary files to the Mapinfo ftp-site Two further options would be: * UltraEdit (trial on http://www.ultraedit.com), which is just as customizable, but, I think, there is no way to trap an error file generated by the compiler (I.e.you'd have to load the error file manually into Ultraedit). UltraEdit is also cheaper than MultiEdit. * CodeWright (http://www.premia.com): You'll find support DLLs on the MapInfo-Homepage. Hope this helps. If you need any help setting up MultiEdit, please do not hesitate to contact me directly, Viele Gre, Andreas PS.: How are the trouts coming along? .................................................
