Listers

Just a note on a shareware MBX and a Compass update you may be interested
in. These are available on our FTP site (ftp.meridian-gis.com.au) and will
also be available at the MapInfo-L FTP site (I think Bill Thoen is away for
a couple of weeks). If anyone would like more information or a copy of the
mbx they can also email me direct.

DistanceMarker.mbx

This MapInfo Tool is designed to place points along a line at a predefined
distance. The start line end is indicated by the user with the mouse click,
and hence is not restricted to the line direction. There is a Preferences
menu where the user can set:
        the Distance
        the Unit of measure
the point Symbol to be displayed
and the tolerance distance for joining unconnected sections.

The tool can handle line, polyline and multiple section polylines.
Where a polyline has multiple sections, no effort is made to "join"
unconnected sections where they lie outside of the tolerance distance. An
error message is displayed noting that the process will end.

Topology: User Beware
We have made a limited attempt to flag and compensate for badly constructed
topology and the vagaries of MapInfo's line construction but cannot
guarantee correct results on badly constructed topology.

DistanceMarker is shareware, if you find it useful and use it regularly
please register with us. The cost is US$30 and for that you receive the
source code, support and any future developments.

Compass News
An updated demo version of Compass, our data and metadata management tool,
now compatible with MapInfo 4.1 and with sample files, is available. Compass
is a commercial product and pricing is available upon request.
