Thanks for the lead on 3-D GIS.  Even though you seem to be very geology
oriented, i thought you would be interested in what my company does with
3-D, which is beyond the scope of MapInfo or ArView/ArcInfo 3-D
visualization.  It is a true 3-D GIS... of great complexity.

Our New York model alone has over 21,000 full 3-D buildings from the simple
massing, to floorplates, and even to the watertowers that sit on the
buildings.   We have just completed Washington DC and Orlando as well.
Boston, Minneapolis, Chicago, and Philadelphia are in the works

Again thanks for the info on AVS/Express... it looks like an interesting
product.

Check out AVS/Express.  We use it for 3-D scientific analysis for
environmental investigations, in conjunction with MapInfo primarily.    ESRI
3-D product extensions are too limited (no -3-d isovolumes is a big
drawback).   We wrote modules to make it fit with MapInfo.  see
