Colleagues,
Forgive me, I know I've sent one email already on this topic. I feel
compelled to share some more information on humanitarian organizations in
light of yesterday's events, including the errant bombing of civilians,
and the murder of men separated from their families, along with the
appearance of thousands more refugees.
I have found some additional (and excellent) resources:
Community Investing Profiles
http://socialfunds.com/sites/calvert/community/index.cfm
Help for Kosovo Refugees
http://www.lycos.com/news/flash/kosovohelp.html
Guidestar Charity Search
http://nonprofit.guidestar.org/search/search.cfm
United Way
http://www.unitedway.org/
Including a fund for Kosovo refugees, and a fund for
those impacted by the Columbine High School violence
Humanitarian organizations accept appreciated stock, workplace
contributions through the United Way, in-kind gifts, pledges, cash, check
or charge, and volunteer assistance. The microcredit lending programs even
accept loans. (See the first site above for a good list of these.)
There are many needs, and many ways to help. (I'd welcome hearing that you
gave to one of the helping organizations after reading this email.)
Sincerely,
Margie Roswell
