You can convert polylines to regions by using the command "Objects/Convert
to region" but there is some limitations. For examples, the function
convert each polyline as one region object (you can not selected 2 or more
polylines to build one region) and this original polyline will be deleted.

So, if you want to select many line objects to build region objects,
without losing these original lines, you can do that by using MapLogix, a
topological map editing tool for MapInfo. You can download a demo with a
summary documentation on our web site at http://www.korem.com/MapLogix or
on Bill Thoen FTP site.

Note: Since you are using MI 4.0, maybe MapLogix functions will be affected
by the bug of the overlap()area function.
