Many thanks for all the replies I had to the above question in both Email and
phone calls, these are summarised below. But I would like to widen the
discussion to see if the same would be true using Terminal Server and Metaframe

Again all replies gratefully received

We have a Visual Basic Program that loads the MapInfo executable on a WinFrame
1.7 server. Right now, we are running version 5.0 without any problems. We have
had more worries about VB than MapInfo. VB 5 runs OK, but any of the service
packs and VB 6 cause very bad things to happen to the server (incompatible
DLLs).
At some point, we expect MapInfo to behave similarly. For this reason, we are
investigating NT 4.0 Terminal Server. We hate the licensing restrictions placed
on us by MS, but we've reached the end of the development cycle on this
platform

I am afraid I can't give too much detail into the installation and operation of
the Citrix server, but I can give some information from a user perspective. I
manage most of the GIS functions for our RF engineering team. We had a Citrix
server running and I requested that MapInfo be installed on our Citrix server
to be of support to me when travelling. The install seemed to be a breeze for
my support person (installed on a Compaq Proliant 5000 NT Server).
I have been using MI now in this environment for about 6 months. It has
performed very well with no hiccups to this date. I access it either via 33.6
modem when travelling, or over ISDN when telecommuting from home. It is here
that it I find it works the strongest. Without having a superfast connection,
you can run MI in the Citrix client, accessing large amounts of data without
needing to upload it to my home PC. Very slick.

All other replies had been posted to mapinfo L and so I will not repeat them.
