Woody,
Go to the shareware files at the MapInfo-L Clearinghouse site (run by the esteemed Bill Thoen) and download Bearing.zip.  It's a little application that should fit the bill.  The program description is:

"Displays compass bearing, distance and beginning and ending points of a line drawn in a mapper window. The bearing angle is in degrees, from 0-360, where zero is facing true north. Program runs on MapInfo 4.02 and later, and includes MB and MBX. "

The MapInfo-L site URL is:

Hope this helps.  Good luck!
