Arcview and MIPro do more or less match each other. Arcview is superior as
a viewer of datasets while MI has stronger capabilities for building
datasets and dealing with projections.
You need both Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst to get everything that is in
Vertical Mapper, however, both Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst take you
beyond what is available in Vertical Mapper. Part of the trade-off is at
least 5 times the cost for the 2 Esri products vs Vertical Mapper. Vertical
Mapper is significantly easier to use.
Network Analyst--sorry, we dont deal with this. I know that there are MI
products out there.
Data Automation Kit- or DAK--This is a slightly scaled-down version of PC
ArcInfo when the Windows interface was really just an afterthought.
Consequently this is a very powerful piece of software but not for the
faint of heart. All the basic ArcInfo stuff is there including clean and
build with explicit topology, project, etc, etc. MapLogix is a MapInfo
add-on that addresses many of these issues. Several other very good add-ons
include this as part of their functionality.
Image Analyst- There is nothing that runs under MI to match this
functionality, however, for the price you might consider ER Mapper which
has a great MapInfo link, far more power than Image Analyst, and an
excellent compression routine.
