Andy,
Vertical Mapper has a Poly-to-Point utility that places symbols along
polylines at a specified distance. Any attribute information that was
attached to you line work will be transferred to any corresponding point.
Once this is done Vertical Mapper can interpolate the DEM for you from this
point file.
