Actually, it did get into the FTP site, but it was put in the
wrong "incoming" directory. So everyone that will know, the
correct place to upload files is
ftp://ftp.ctmap.com/mapinfo/incoming, NOT
"ftp.ctmap.com/incoming". That other FTP incoming directory
belongs to a different person. It's not a big deal, but if you
put files in the wrong spot I may never notice them there. (I've
now moved it to the right place so others can get at it). The
"/mapinfo/incoming" directory is a read/write file area, and I've
left it like this so that people can post things quickly to the
world with no waiting. Eventually when I get time, I catalog it
in the big archive and move it to the public read-only file area.

Also, please do not post attachments to list mail. It creates
problems for people who's only link to list mail is with
non-Windows mail readers and/or dial-up lines. That's what the
FTP site is for. Someday everyone will use Windows and 100MB
browser software, but until then please, no attachments. Send
attachemnts only to people who ask for them or if you get too
many requests, post them on an FTP site.

It would be even more environmentally-friendly to refrain from
using HTML-formatted messages altogether so that we don't exclude
those who can't read them (this would lighten the list load too),
but I'm not going to push that "stone tools" philosophy too far.
After all, we've got to have something to drag the UNIX community
kicking and screaming into the 21st century, eh? (However we
could do without those "cute" v-card signature "attachments" --
up to five plaintext lines is plenty for a signature, and
everyone can read them).

I'll get hot_link.zip cataloged and posted soon, but in the
meantime it's available for anyone who wants to download it at
ftp://ftp.ctmap.com/mapinfo/incoming/hot_link.zip
