Hi Dion,

You wouldn't by any chance be using MapX on the client-side, would you ?
This is not the normal way it's done in MapXtreme as I percieve it.
Normally you'd use MapX on the server programmatically to generate
an image (GIF, JPEG whatever) of the map window (stored in memory),
and only return that image to the browser.
That's certainly multi-browser compliant.

If you're assuming the existence of MapX on the client, you're stuck with
ActiveX compliant browsers, and only IE is certain to be that ?
Netscape (?) (and my favorite Opera) uses Java-plugin's instead.

MapXtreme for Java includes a MapX-like Java component, MapJ.
That may work in a client-side, multi-browser (plug-in) scenario.
I'm not sure or not MapJ may be purchased separately.

And I've not even touched the economical issue of distributing MapX
on client machines. I hope you're covered in that respect.

Regards
Lars Nielsen

Subject: MI MapXtreme coding

All,
I've written an web app using ASP and VBscript with only MapX OCX to
do an address lookup from MapXtreme. The app is only viewable through the
IE5 web browser. I'm now being asked to make it multi-browser compliant.
What do I have to do?
a.) Can I port the code to JavaScript and ASP?
     OR
b.) Do I have to buy Java MapXtreme?

Thanks,
Dion Duran
