Carl,
I haven't used ProPress yet, but I have the equivalent software from
the maker that MapInfo is partnering with. Alone, it is a third party RIPer
call HyperXpress from Pinebush Technologies. I have a demo, but haven't had
the time to install it. That's all I know. I think MapInfo had a press
release about the product before.

Subject: Comments on MI ProPress

Hello all,

Seems MapInfo has released a Raster Image Processing (RIP) add-
on called ProPress (see MI web site for details). Since I have not
heard anyone previously comment on this, I assume it is very new.
Given MapInfo's difficulty at printing large raster sets, especially with
transparency or halo'd text, this add-on appears to address some of
these short comings. The $995 price tag and second "workstation"
computer requirements (or network environment) seem rather steep
to me. But if the claims of "dramatically reducing print time", "tilting,
rotating", and "true WYSIWYG print preview" are true then this
could circumvent those of us who have persued third party RIPers.

While I believe this is a new add-on product, I'm wondering if
anyone has used it or what the MI community is thinking about it.

Thanks,
Carl
