Thanks for the replies. They were all very useful.
May be this is worth noting. I was told that even the current FME product
which the Universal Translator is based upon has the problem of loosing
line colours when converting AutoCAD drawings.
In the end I opted for the good old import method within MapInfo. Its time
consuming when you have large drawings to deal with, but at least it
carries everything through.
