Dear John

There is a product called GeoWiz and PolyWiz which has a number of
useful digitising functions. However, amongst their functionalities
is the "Feature Manipulation Engine" which translates in both software
directions between a wide range of file formats. MapInfo v5.0 has a
cut-down version of the software so is not so fully featured.
Hopefully, the full product will be more useful. Try to find a
company based in the UK called "Dotted Eyes" on the internet. I
believe you can download a freebie for limited use or something.

Good Luck.

Sheila
