Hello Colleagues,
This lists generates a large volume of mail, as I'm sure you've noticed.
My request is that if you are so inclined, can you turn off the
send-HTML option in your email package? (And if you have
pictures to post, can you put them out on a web page?)
Okay, last time I made this request, it generated responses ranging from
tepid to annoyed. But sometimes I'm a plucky sort, and I'll make my
interests known, once again.
HTML email:
- More than doubles the size of the email, therefore doubling the
likelihood that email account space gets filled.
- More than doubles the number of keystrokes it takes (for me) to read
the email (which is a most vexing problem for me, and my poor wrists.)
- Can not be read by my email package.
- Usually (but not always) comes packaged with a readable text, which spl
its words across lines like this.
Some folks have said I should use a package which better handles the HTML.
However, I'm choosing a package (Pine) which better handles my email
volume, and moreover, accomodates my wrist-pained desire not to
mouse-click.
Hey: I look out for other folks' interest too. This next blurb is slightly
off-topic, unless you consider the topic to be technology access for
people with disabilities. I made a web page which may be a resource to any
of you who actually write HTML on purpose.

(I have a friend who's completely blind since birth. You'd be AMAZED how
many web pages are NOT accessible to people who use screen readers - maybe
even yours. I'd rather have chronic wrist pain than not be able to see,
but then again: I'd pick neither, given a choice in the matter.)
Thanks for learning how to turn off HTML in your email package, if you
can/would be so kind, (I'll live if you don't, but prefer if you would.)
Margie
