Try this code during app load process:
'Alter the page setup dialog: 0 for portrait, 1 for landscape
Alter MapInfoDialog 1742 Control 1057 Value 1
'Make user hit OK so Alter dialog takes effect
Run Menu Command M_FILE_PAGE_SETUP
not very poetic, forcing the user's input. It's the only way I've found.
The dialog ID number is described (briefly) in MB Reference Guide under Alter
MapInfoDialog
