If you open the Excel sheet as a mapinfo table you could insert it as a 
browser.  If this is not satisfactory (because you want the headings etc.), 
I recently used Superprint (www.zeno.com) to print an Access report to a 
jpg page at 600 dpi, and inserted this onto a layout as an image.  It 
worked well.
