Gary,

One suggestion would be to check that you haven't set the map bounds inadvertently.
This has been the cause of a similar problem I have experienced in the past. You may
also need to reset the Coordinate System (see recent posts regarding this issue) as
well??

Also, if you are reloading the previous workspace, or a startup workspace, the
co-ordinate system defaults are possibly being reset as well.

Good luck

Mark Knudsen

Subject: MI - Perspective Problem??

I run MI 4.0 on a Mac and have a real problem that of course cannot be
answered by MI Tech Support anymore. The problem is the following:

When I open a map, any map, a straight line across the screen displays
in the map window. That's all! The data are there because I can browse
just fine. So, for example, when I open the US States map, the mapper
window displays a long horizontal line on the right and a short
horizontal line to its left - both run across the horizontal center of
the map window. When I set the cursor to display coordinates, the
coordinates (in Long/Lat projection) displayed are -130,0 on the
extreme left of the lines and -70, 0 on the right. Above the lines
coordinates vary from -130, +90 to -70, +90. Below they vary from
-130, -90 to -70, -90. If I select portions of the line, for
example the left third or so of the long line, I get western states
listed in the browser. If I select the left line, I get Hawaii and
Alaska. The short line on the left, therefore, represents these latter
two states, the long line on the right represents mainland US.

Up until today, all has worked well. I have done nothing out of the
ordinary today (I've only used email and MS applications - no funny or
unusual stuff) with the following possible exception:

I opened an old World Workspace (that I have left over from a previous
version) and was asked to find the Grid 15 file, the World file, etc. I
found the old World file (which had been moved) and the new equivalents
of the Grid 15 file and others. This resulted in a line, representing
the world file, similar to the States example above. ALL map files seem
to behave this way now making me think that I somehow toggled some
control that I shouldn't have.

I need help desperately. Any advice you have would be greatly
appreciated!

Thanks

GS
