Hello Wang

Yes, MapInfo has an answer right up your street!

You can create a seamless layer that opens the whole lot in one go. It
is efficient as well in that it pages in and out what it needs. The
seemless layer really contains a set of MBRs (Minimum bounding
rectangles) for each seperate table. If any of these MBRs intersect the
screen as you zoom and pan then good 'ol MapInfo opens up the
appropriate tables.

The only disadvantage of Seamless layers is that they are read only. To
edit an individual table you still have to open it up directly. On the
plus side they work with raster maps too!

Best way to familiarise yourself is Kevin Mahoneys tools. Kevin is a
MapInfo Guru that used to work for MapInfo Tech Support but left to go
to Oracle. He has written a lot of MapBasic code that is available free
via MapInfo-l download. They are referred to as KGM tools.

I hope you find this of some use.

Regards

Bob
