Dear Anitra
We are running MapInfo 5.0 on a 350MHz 64Mb RAM PC with 6.4GB Hard drive
and 8Mb graphics card. Go for the biggest monitor you can - we use a 19"
which is adequate but larger would be better, especially if you have a
number of windows open. As for a printer, it depends on what you are going
to produce. For A4 a colour laser would be ideal, but we have an Epson 1520
inkjet printer which prints up to A3 and a HP A0 plotter for the bigger
stuff. As you will be spending a lot of time looking at a screen, the
monitor is the most important in my view - go for the biggest you can
afford and make sure it has a high refresh rate to avoid flicker. We have
found that some of the cheaper monitors cannot be run at their highest
resolution without reducing the refresh rate, which then results in flicker
and eyestrain.
regards
Nigel
