Hello List Members!
One of the research groups I am working with
is about to pick several 2X2 sq. km. units
for study of the urban form. We are trying to
find out whether there are some kind of GIS
or Cartography-based guidelines for making
such selections. Things that come to mind
intuitively are:
* make the unit as similar in shape to statistical units of the area as possible
* make the unit to fit into some grid that would ensure matching of their boundaries,
should more of these units be studied in the future
* make the units having in mind only characteristics of the area and no
GIS/Cartographic
  concerns

If you know of any work that has been done in this area I will greatly appreciate
your help.

Yours sincerely

P.G.
