Walter,
I think the problem would be related to the mix of mappable and non-mappable tables. I
think MapInfo uses the first mappable table as the output of a SQL query and therefore
will not show selected records in the non-graphical table.
You could generate a second version of your mappable table which has no objects
associated with it (export as text and re-import for instance) and work with this
table. MapInfo will then list selected records in the first table in the SQL query.
Any other ways of doing this?
Good luck..

Subject: MI linking
In my work as mapper for archeological researchers I often link tables
with graphical objects to tables with other data without graphical
information (for example total weight of sample material per object)
The information is linked on basis of two columns. For example
excavation_pitnr = totalsampleweight_pitnr AND
excavation_spnr = totalsampleweight_spnr
I have a question regarding the linking proces. After i've typed the SQL
query i know which graphical object is linked with the non-graphical
data because the hits are selected and the non-hits are not.
In the non-graphical table no records get selected. Sometimes I want to
know which record in the table without grapical information did or did
not link with the table with graphical objects. Is this possible?
Using MI 5.0 MB 5.0
