Another good software add-on for MapInfo is Discover by Encom. It is
perhaps the best geological mapping utility for any desktop mapping
application. It has pre-defined symbols for AGS, GSC, USGS. There is a
structural symbols digitizing routine, as well as contouring with
user-definable search ellipse. Cross-section and bore hole plotting,
user definable template plotting with customizable automated coordinate
reference grid with grid tick generation. Plus ternary diagram
plotting!
I've used this for over a year and it's awesome. $500 Cdn. for student
copy $2000 Cdn. for commercial license, but it's the best add-on for
traditional geological mapping.
