Here is another post in
which I beseech the MapInfo community to help me fully understand how to create
professional quality maps with MapInfo for use in layout and design in other
programs or on the web. I checked
out Avenza’s website, and MapPublisher looks good, but at $495 I wanted to get
some opinions. It seems to solve
what is so far the biggest problem I have: outputting a high resolution map
from mapinfo into a useable graphic format. It’s obvious that “save window as” is useless for this, even
though there are a few ways to cheat and up the resolution. Therefore I would like to
request some feedback from people who produce professional
quality printed materials that contain MapInfo maps. Do you all have to use a product like Avenza’s MapPublisher?
If so, can I get away with purchasing MapPublisher LT? What other products are there besides
MapPublisher? What about .eps? I cannot get mapinfo to output to .eps
successfully. I can place a
mapinfo-created eps in ms word, but without a preview image I can’t tell how
big it is or where it’s going to print on the page. I’ve been trying ghostview, with no luck. Ghostview can handle any .ps or .eps I
give it, except those that come from MapInfo. I think it’s a combination of me not fully understanding it
and MI not really having the capability or working correctly. Everyday somebody’s
asking similar questions about high-quality map output. I would like to get some more dialogue
going about this. Thanks to the
few people who have emailed me about this in the past. I’m still trying to work through a good
solution and I’d love some more help. Thanks Tony D’Ambrosio [EMAIL PROTECTED] |
