Hi Martijn, You may have noticed that I liked your option to specify a "base" prefix path for the shapefile and raster datasources, and so I've added that same logic to the GDAL,OGR, and SQLite plugins (http://trac.mapnik.org/changeset/1042 )
In the process of adding that I noticed that we don't have any documentation on the Wiki about using these features added in: http://trac.mapnik.org/changeset/574 Do you think you could create a few pages describing their usage? Also, I'm currently pondering this issue: Allowing any relative paths in the XML file to be relative to the filesystem location of the XML file itself. I think this would be yet another really valuable option for flexibly holding the right paths to datasources and symbols in xml. I've stubbed a ticket for it here: http://trac.mapnik.org/ticket/147 I'm interested in ideas for the right approach to implement something like this.
