My style files are at http://www.remote.org/frederik/tmp/osm-ll.xml http://www.remote.org/frederik/tmp/osm-sphmerc.xml - they are pretty much OSM bog standard I should think. I should have said in my initial post that I am using mapnik built from SVN (at current revision, 697), on a 64 bit machine running Debian Etch. The "proj" package is at version 4.4.9d-2. Are there any known problems with that perhaps?
