Makes sense, it was the answer I was afraid of. =) In a perfect world, the "spacing" parameter would work for polygons as well as lines, perhaps arranging labels in a honeycomb pattern?
I'm not willing to fake it with points, because they'd make the label spacing resolution dependent. Not all that desirable. -mike.
