We don't administer the boxen ourselves. I don't believe systems staff would be very keen on apt-pinning to another version. They don't install stock Ubuntu; there's some customization process (that I don't understand) and then they install that. I have no idea what Boost 1.35 features are used; maybe they're important, maybe they're not. Since mapnik has been getting along fine for quite a while on 1.33, I'm skeptical. My point is that it seems a bit early to drop support for a distro that's not even a year old yet. I wanted to point out that not all users have the same flexibility in distro that the developers do.
