Hi, Yes, I have a goal of adding Mapnik read support for a variety of other style and layer descriptors including:
1) Quantum GIS project files 2) SLD / and perhaps Geoserver data (featuretypes/catalog.xml) 3) MapServer Mapfiles My work so far has been primarily at the QGIS level as I've been working on integrating Mapnik into QGIS as an alternate rendering engine. I'd be happy to give you an estimate of the contract time it would take to implement each part of SLD support. Things that would need to be done in addition to the parsing of basic SLD FeatureTypeStyles would be designing logic for associating styles with Mapnik layers, handling the different Filter Syntax used between Mapnik and SLD, and the mapping of potential SLD VendorOptions to the right Mapnik equivalent symbolizer properties (such as 'followLine' or 'maxDisplacement').
