By Identify, do you mean login and have edit permissions?
That can be solved, and I would think would be the 1st thing to try.

Trac's built in wiki is actually quite easy to use, and in my experience
can provide better communication between the development end the user
end as link's between the ticket system, commits and wiki pages can be
created very quickly.

I always hesitate at the suggestion of adding an additional software
component because it brings a lot of extra issues.
Could you address some of these:
1. Who will host, run, maintain the Mediawiki instance & database
2. Who will manage the Wiki site, keep spam off, make sure there is
sensible navigation, prevent too many orphan pages from, etc (Wiki Gnoming)
3. What features does it provide that are new and very necessary? In
this case many Trac plugins exist to provide similar function to MediaWiki.
4.It could never be a true migration since MediaWiki can't do issue
tracking, commit log stuff so both would exist. Would this confuse users
looking for information?

Thanks,
Alex
