I have no example since I have not really been able to understand the existing algorithm (code) and what it is really intended to do so I never use it. If someone could explain it in terms of a real example I would update the document. If someone, (Dane maybe), would like to put the PDF up on the mapnik web site I have no problem with that. I am not sure about the best way to update/maintain it; who to forward updates to? For me, I have the original in an OpenOffice document that I try and keep up to date, then generate a PDF from it. The all in one document is something I can print and make notes on as I am working.
