Hello,

I am running a mapnik tile renderer. The tile rendering speed was very good
when I had only germany in the data base. I used the germany osm package
from cloudmade. But after importing the osm europe package from geofabrik
into the postgres db it takes ages to render tiles. (before I got many tiles
per second now rendering a single tile takes approx. 20-30 seconds.)

I ran osm2pgsl with the -c argument in order to overwrite the old data in
the database.

when I run "top" on the 4 GB double core machine this is what I get:

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
24274 postgres 20 0 449m 373m 367m R 50 9.5 143:37.69 postmaster
24279 postgres 20 0 450m 373m 367m R 49 9.5 143:45.77 postmaster
24281 postgres 20 0 450m 373m 367m R 49 9.5 143:46.00 postmaster
24280 postgres 20 0 448m 371m 367m S 48 9.5 143:42.26 postmaster

What could be the reason for the sudden speed problems?

Thanx & Best Regards
