Hey Mapnik Users, I recently finished up the first version of a Mapnik-generated map of the Sierra Nevada Range in California, USA. During the creation of this map I've found this mailing list (and the entirety of the Mapnik community) very helpful and a good source of ideas so I figured I'd share my map. The URL is:
http://www.closedcontour.com The motivation behind the map can be found in my blog (linked from the above site) but put simply, I want to create a modern version of the USGS topos tailored to outdoor recreation. This first version includes summits of the SPS Peak List and trails throughout the range. I hope to add data and refine the map for the foreseeable future and am open to comments and suggestions.
