Great, I wonder, did upgrading python to 2.6 mean that python now runs as a 64 bit process?
I'm not experienced on Windows but I know that the Mac Python installers just started shipping as 64 bit with Python 2.6 I would assume the Mapnik windows binaries are running as 32bit. Great to hear you are enjoying geowebcache in front of the ogcserver, fun combo. I would guess speed improvements are due to python 25 -> 26 move, but it would be interesting if you could run 0.7.1 using python 25, and see. Just switch your environment settings to point to the Mapnik python module in the python 2.5 directory that comes with the 0.7.1 binaries.
