yes, I had a lot of cut labels and shields, especially long linear text like boundary names created problems. > generate_tiles.py could be easily modified to render metatiles (then chop > them up on the fly) into the z/x/y.png scheme. It may already do this.... I also thought about this but tried to avoid it for the moment if there was a solution already available.
