Also, I have posted a build of the Mapnik Viewer [1] for OS X.

If you install the Qt Framework and the Mapnik2 framework then you can use this 
simple but powerful viewer for XML stylesheets.

Artem is the author of the viewer, and here is a shot of him viewing a test of 
scaled SVG rendering on top of OSM data:
