Joep Rottinghuis commented on MAPREDUCE-2901:
---------------------------------------------

hadoop-mapreduce-project/hadoop-yarn/README reads that we need to install
protobuf 2.4.0a or higher.
Does that mean that on my Ubuntu machine I should uninstall the deb packages
listed in my previous comment and configure/make/install from scratch?

> Build should fail sanely if protoc isn't on PATH

>          Components: build
>    Affects Versions: 0.23.0
>            Reporter: Vinod Kumar Vavilapalli
>
> It now fails "[ERROR] Failed to execute goal
> org.codehaus.mojo:exec-maven-plugin:1.2:exec (generate-sources) on project
> hadoop-yarn-api: Command execution failed. Process exited with an error:
> 1(Exit value: 1) -> [Help 1]".
> Which doesn't help much.
